Welcome to The Quiet Furnace. It took me nearly three hours to come up with the name for my blog, nearly every username and blog name I wanted to use was taken. In the end, I think I got the best one. I really like it and I hope you like it too. So why The Quiet Furnace?

Well,
here’s the thing. I am a big fan of Magic The Gathering. It brought some magic into my life and although me and my friends who play it at work get a look or two from other colleagues, I’m fine with that.

I always liked it because of its art. It’s a game in which you can lose yourself. So I started to lose myself quite regularly and although I’m not very good at it, I’m a big fan of it.

I wanted my blog to be a place where I will rule, but not as a despotic tyrant without any appreciation for what others got to say. I wanted it to be a quiet place full of light, warmth, hope and passion. And then I had this vision. Why not call it The Quiet Furnace? A place where Urabrask hid after he realized the full monstrosity of phyrexian invasion (this is slightly exaggerated, but you can read the story clicking on the link below.)

In Magic The Gathering red is the symbol of passion, freedom, anger, action, present moment. The litte bit about Urabrask and how he allowed the Mirran resistance to stay within his hidden realm, The Quiet Furnace, can be found here and full picture of what The Quiet Furnace looked like can be found here.

Sometimes (if you write you probably know what I am talking about) you come up with a name and it just sounds right, it’s what you have been looking for. This was definitely true for my blog name. I am going through re-defining who I am, what I want to do and how and what I want to share with the world. I can confirm, that when you need something, or someone, you will get it. I have truly been given the best guides on my journey. There’s no better reward in our lives than to lift someone up from his, or her shit, let the others know that there is always other way.

I appreciate that I have used name that someone else thought up, but I will reforge it to new shape. I am who I am, I am not Urabrask, although I have borrowed his name. I have hidden myself like he once did. I don’t have a plan like he didn’t. I merely want to be, do my work, which in his case was called The Great Work and I might actually borrow that one to. I want to believe that each of us is A (Piece Of) Great Work.

I welcome you all to The Quiet Furnace.
